The consolidated procedure

The checklist

Fifteen steps, in the order you would actually run them. Most take under a minute. Together they take about twenty minutes across the whole process, and they produce a file that turns an impression into something a regulator, a card issuer or a court can examine. Every step links to the full procedure.

Before you book
01Establish the legal entityFind the registered company name and number of the business you will be contracting with, on Companies House. If it is a sole trader, get the full name and trading address in writing.02Get four facts in writingThe full name and registration number of the person treating you, the registered company name and number, the name of any prescriber, and the product to be used.03Check the individual on the statutory registerSearch the register that issued the number. Read registration status, licence to practise or prescriber annotation, and any conditions. Screenshot it with the date.04Establish whether a prescriber is required at allBotulinum toxin is a prescription only medicine. Most fillers are devices. Ask which category the product falls in, by name.05If a medicine, confirm the assessmentAsk who prescribes, their registration number, and the date and format of their assessment of you. A form reviewed by a prescriber you never meet is not an assessment.06Check the premises position for your nationSearch CQC, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Healthcare Inspectorate Wales or RQIA. If nothing is found, ask in writing whether registration is required for this service.07Ask the local authority about licensingFor laser and light treatments in England in particular, email the council for the treatment address and ask whether a licence is required and whether the premises holds one.08Ask for indemnity evidenceWhat arrangement covers this specific procedure, who is the provider, and is the individual or the business insured. Ask in writing before booking.09Check any finance on the FCA registerSearch both the lender and the clinic on the Financial Services Register. Read the total amount payable, not the monthly figure.10Read the quotation against the eleven itemsEntity, individual, prescriber, product, quantity, total price, inclusions, aftercare, urgent contact, cancellation terms and the date.11Measure the consultation against published standardsHistory, examination, what it can and cannot achieve, material risks, alternatives including no treatment, who will treat you, and time to reflect.12Read the consent form before signing itCheck for risks nobody mentioned, the name of the person carrying out the procedure, and whether marketing photography is bundled with clinical photography.13Photograph the area yourselfEven natural light, front and both sides, neutral and active, before and after. Clinic photographs are taken in conditions that flatter change.14Have product and batch recorded on the dayAsk that the full product name and batch number go into your notes, and request a copy of your records afterwards.15Know the routes before you need themWhich body handles the individual, the service, the money, the finance, the advertising and the product. They are separate and can run in parallel.
The file

Everything above produces the same small file: dated screenshots of each register entry, the written answers about entity, injector and prescriber, the quotation and terms, the consent documents, the product and batch record, your own photographs, and the aftercare sheet with an urgent contact. If nothing goes wrong you will never open it.

The verification note

One email a month. What changed in the registers and the law, what a new rule actually requires, and one procedure written out in full. No clinic is ever recommended and none can pay to appear.
